Chocolate-covered Spiders

…or bats, or swamp things. Not quite sure.

But this I do know: they ARE goooooood. :)

Heidi, from Lightly Crunchy, posted these sinful spiders the other day. Hers look like actual spidery creatures. Mine? Not so much. Maybe in a certain light.

Just the same, the kids had a blast. So it’s a big ol’ score one for Mom!

Our version:

Skinny pretzel sticks
Big bag of choc. chips
1 tsp. butter
M-n-M’s (plain)

Crack out the double boiler and melt your chips and butter.

Toss in the pretzels. (I asked hubby for the super skinny ones but I think our store was out. So these held quite a bit o’ chocolate, but I’m not complaining! I broke mine in half.)

Coat pretzels and layer in “nests” on parchment paper.

Have the kids add M’s for eyes. We skipped the pupil part (see Heidi’s).

Stick in frig for a few minutes (or freezer) to let chocolate harden. Enjoy!

Heidi’s tip of adding a little butter or oil for shine really works well.

Yeah, we’re dipping spare pretzels in the leftover drippy chocolate…

..cuz we’re fun like that, and –
NEVER waste chocolate. Never. It’s a commandment.

So Heidi, this post is for you. My hips aren’t thanking you – but my taste buds are!!!
