Question of the day:

What would you give up in order to have better community?

There’s been a lot of talk lately about the value of community. Real community. The kind that says, “You’re welcome here. Accepted as you are, loved because you are YOU!” – type of community. That sounds lovely, doesn’t it? Bird-chirpingly lovely. Perfect, quite frankly. But easier said than done.

This ideal community can work well in a mostly no-strings-attached type atmosphere, i.e. the blogosphere or with long distance groups of friends and family. But what about in the everyday? The face to face. With those in your home. Neighborhood. Church. Workplace. Town…
What if someone said you had to choose one thing to sacrifice, give up, or modify in your life in exchange for a better quality of overall community in your life – what would your one (or more than one) change be?
